The Council on Library and Information Resources and the Digital Library Federation are proud to announce that the 2022 Forum fellowship application is now open. This year, we are offering a limited number of fellowship opportunities to enable a diverse group of students and practitioners to attend the 2022 DLF Forum, to be held in Baltimore, Maryland this October.
All fellowships will include the following:
- Complimentary DLF Forum registration
- A complimentary room at the conference hotel for three nights (October 9-11)
- A stipend for travel and incidentals ($650)
- Invitations to special networking opportunities
- The option to present a short lightning talk during the conference
In return, Fellows agree to share a brief (500 word) reflection on their experiences to be published on the DLF blog after the Forum.
This year’s fellowship opportunities include:
- Forum Fellowships for Students
The DLF invites current or recently-graduated students (May 2020 and later) to apply for our DLF Forum Fellowships for Students. The Forum is an excellent place to learn about the latest advances in digital librarianship and allied fields, to meet new colleagues and contacts, and to get involved with DLF interest groups and initiatives. - Forum HBCU Fellowships
In 2017, CLIR partnered with the HBCU Library Alliance to host a Liberal Arts Colleges (LACs) + Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) Pre-Conference preceding the DLF Forum. Since then, the CLIR/HBCU Library Alliance partnership has expanded beyond the Forum with projects that include the Authenticity Project and season 3 of CLIR’s Material Memory podcast. We’re thrilled to commemorate the five years since we welcomed the inaugural cohort of HBCU Forum Fellows and to honor our ongoing partnership with this year’s DLF Forum HBCU Fellowships. - Forum TCU Fellowships
For the first time, DLF is offering fellowships exclusively for employees, students, and alumni of Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). In addition to extending our gratitude to the Indigenous peoples, past and present, who have cared for the lands we’re on, DLF aims to move beyond just land acknowledgements in an effort to exemplify our commitment to beginning the process of interrogating and dismantling the ongoing legacies of settler colonialism. Along with continuing the tradition of land reparations by making a donation to a local Native American organization, we are excited to invite those affiliated with TCUs to join us at the Forum for this year’s DLF Forum TCU Fellowships. - Forum Public Library Fellowships
Too often library and information professionals find ourselves in organizational silos, facing similar challenges in the digital landscape with too few opportunities to come together and share knowledge across disciplines. In our continuing efforts to bring new voices to the DLF Forum, we’re excited to announce the introduction of DLF Forum Public Library Fellowships. - Forum Fellowships for Grassroots Archives and Cultural Heritage Organizations
The DLF community is always looking to expand the conversation around digital collections and related activities and include a variety of organizational perspectives at the Forum. This year, we are actively seeking participation from those who work with digital collections and services in community-based archives and cultural heritage organizations. Knowing that many who serve these organizations do so without support for professional development, we are delighted to announce this year’s DLF Forum Fellowships for Grassroots Archives and Cultural Heritage Organizations.
Eligibility information for each of the preceding award categories as well as the link to this year’s application are available on the Fellowships page of this site. Please note that DLF member affiliation is NOT required to apply (so please share this opportunity widely!).
We purposely keep our Fellowship applications lightweight, so applicants only need to answer a few basic questions, provide a brief personal statement (500 word max), and share a copy of your resume/C.V. or a link to your online professional profile.
